I have watched this week as my friend Tom and his two sons have been comforted and ministered to by the Lord himself and by the body of Christ, as he and his boys have dealt with the loss of his wife and their mom, to cancer on Monday. This song by Twila Paris is one that meant so very much to me-as an expression of gratitude-when I lost my son. Gratitude to the Lord for his sacrifice and for the ministry to my family by the Church in the weeks after our loss. I will give you the words and then what I believe is a very lovely rendition of the song from Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. I hope it ministers to your heart as it does mine every time I hear it. The beautiful body of Christ-indeed.
How Beautiful-By Twila Paris
How Beautiful the hands that served
The Wine and the Bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty roads and the hill to the cross
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ
How Beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sin and bore it instead
How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ
And as He lay down His life
We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as He died
Willing to pay the price
Willing to pay the price
How Beautiful the radiant bride
Who waits for her Groom with His light in her eyes
How Beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure lives so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ
How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How Beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

I don't know where I would be without the Lord, but I also don't know where I would be without the body of Christ. May the Lord continue to comfort you and this family.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a beautiful song Vicky. Today we had our brother in Christ over for dinner who just lost his wife to cancer also a few weeks ago. Listening to him share his heart today makes me realize how near to us our Saviour is in time of great trouble.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you dear one.
ps. I want to talk again soon. :)
I've always liked this song, Vicky. What would we do without the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ? May your friends know His comfort in unspeakable ways in these difficult days ahead.
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies-and thanks so much for your prayers for Tom and his family-she was like a daughter to me-and I miss her.
ReplyDeleteDiane-email me with a day and time-and i will give you a call.
