How Great Is Our God!

Low in the grave He lay
Jesus my Savior
waiting the break of day
Jesus my Lord

Up from the grave He arose
with a mighty triumph o'er His foes!

Just a few lines from one of our best loved Resurrection hymns-most of us will probably sing it this Sunday morning. Christians will rejoice and celebrate this weekend for what God has done for us through Christ.

One of the rich truths that I have come to understand since embracing the Doctrines of Grace is the fact that the death -burial-and resurrection of Christ is about our Triune God-the love-sacrifice and submission within the Trinity. Our focus has to be on God-our hearts need to rise in worship to the Father Son and Holy Spirit. This sacrifice of atonement was accomplished by the plan of God: by the Son of God offering himself through the Eternal Spirit without spot to God the Father as payment for the sins of God's elect people-Heb 9:13-14. Jesus in John 17:6-10 prays for the people that God has given to him. This is one of the passages every Christian should read at this time of the year-the whole of John 17.

One other amazing fact on my heart this weekend is that God has numbered me with the people he has given to Jesus. I can't wrap my head around that-even after all these years of knowing what God through Christ has done for me. It causes me to tremble-because I know I am worthy of nothing but hell from the hand of God. If you are a believer -it should make you tremble too-the fact that God has chosen you-because you know that you are not worthy either.

I am speechless-as I usually am on Easter weekend. I have no words to adequately or worthily express my love to the Trinity for what God has done for us to bring glory and honor to his Name. I am going to share with you a couple of my Haiku's-small reflections on our great God and His sacrifice. I just noticed that wrath appears in each one. I guess that is because I think  about God's wrath often-and how Jesus has saved me from it-by taking it in his own body on the cross. Think about it-our sins met the wrath of God in Jesus body on the cross, and we will never face God's wrath. Hallelujah what a Savior!

His sweat drops like blood| anticipating God's wrath| our dear Savior King

On that Cross dear Friend |God's full cup of wrath you drained| there my soul was cleansed.

Worthy is the Lamb|seen slain before time began|that Lamb took God's wrath

And someday soon every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord-to the glory of God the Father!
And all the world will see:"How Great is our God"
